EvokeMotion Society is a weekly adult dance community in Santa Barbara where the vibe is warm, the music is good, and nobody's judging your footwork. We offer contemporary, jazz, jazz funk, and commercial dance classes for adults of all levels — and we're always open to adding new styles based on what our community wants. Whether you've never taken a class in your life, you're shaking off some rust, or you've been dancing for years and just want a place to keep going without the pressure, we're here for all of it. Founded by Emily Stokes and led by a team of three passionate dancers, come as you are. Leave feeling incredible.

We're at 3005 State St, Santa Barbara, CA 93105. There is a small parking lot and and street parking available.

Your first class is completely free — on us. After that:
Drop-in: $18
5 class pack: $85
10 class pack: $160
We accept payment via Venmo (@evokemotionsociety), Zelle, or cash. The class packs are a great deal if you know you're going to be hooked. (Spoiler: you will be.)

Not at all. Our classes cover contemporary, jazz, jazz funk, and commercial styles and are open to everyone from total beginners to seasoned movers who just want a fun, pressure-free place to keep doing what they love. We typically offer two levels — beginner and intermediate — and we always make it clear which is which so you can pick the right fit. If you're not sure where you land, just ask us. We'll figure it out together.

We occasionally perform — because sometimes you just have to share what you've been working on! But there are zero competitions, zero requirements to participate and zero pressure. Everything we do is about joy, not judgment.
